Followers of Jesus deny themselves, take up their cross and follow Him
You may be asking, so where do I begin in being and making a disciple of Jesus Christ?
Jesus states in Luke 9:23 NASB “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
The first step in the Give Up Phase is to Surrender.
We must answer the question, have I truly surrendered my life to Christ. What is your general definition of the word surrender? Is there any difference in the way you define surrender in general as opposed to how you relate that word to Jesus?
Jesus gives us three clear characteristics of a disciple as well as a definition of a surrendered life. First, one must deny himself. Secondly, one must take up his cross daily, and thirdly, one must follow Jesus.
